KRTU GanG - Feb & Mar 2014 updates

On Tuesday, 18th Feb the God of Golf was smiling at Alex because he scored 6 pars and 1 birdie to record his best gross score of 37 on Tasik nine. The two bogeys were recorded on the difficult hole #2 (index 3) and #4 (index 1).  As such, he surpassed his 38 achieved  on 17/10/2013 and equaled the best gross of three other players in the group, namely Dennes, Lim and Lee. Well done, Alex definitely an excellent start for the Year of he Horse!

However, GoG was even more generous on the next day, where our team pro Dennes scotched the Sawit nine with 6 pars and 2 birdies to achieve the low score of 35 gross. This is a personal best and obviously broke the previous record of gross 37 of the GanG group.

 

The 3 musketeers in the flight, Lim, Lee and Alex wondered if he will maintain this fantastic form over to the 2nd nine.

Contrary to his hot streak, he pulled his first tee shot to the left of the fairway into the trees, worst still the ball could be OB! So he played a provisional ball and again it sailed into the trees almost a similar direction to the first. At that moment, he must be thinking that his good quota must be coming to the end. So did we (and silently we hoped), since we were loosing with our pants down on the first nine! When we reached the trees, the 2nd ball was quickly found but not the first. But after some frantic search, the 1st ball was eventually found among the trees further back from the second, about 190m from the green. In a do or die spirit, his second shot with a 5 wood just shot through the fairway and rolled to just 5m short of the green where he chipped and 2 putted for a bogey. On the other hand, if he had to play the provisional ball, he would be staring at a double bogey at least. If this was the case, he would be very very upset, especially when this was the first tee off after crossing over! So considered what had happened, it was a great break that must have boosted back his confidence. He ended the inward nine with a gross 41, ending the 18 holes with a total gross 76. Again his personal best and a course record for the group. I think the record will remain for a long time to come.
