KRTU GanG - Championship
Hello, We are a group of golfers from KRTU who play mostly 9-holes on Tuesday to Friday morning. There are currently 21 members, lead by our Captain Optical Gan, assisted by Alex and John. Each member pays a nominal fees of RM20.00 a month, basically a fund for drinks and makan, and other misc expenses like no-show penalty imposed by the golf club. On most days, we will be the first group to tee off, sometimes in grey darkness before even the monkeys were out from their beds.
Since this is my first posting, it is my honor to introduce one of our senior member, Mr Siew. He has a naturally loud voice (I mean LOUD!) and drinks like a cow (liquor not water, ok?), we called him the "Thunder King". (maybe to add another title- "Karaoke King" after his performance during the last dinner party!). Mr Siew and his group is always the first flight to tee-off . But before the tee off begins, he will always start with a special morning ritual. He will face the fairway and execute 3 loud shouts...don't asked me why? but he said he was doing his Qui Qong. But we think his intention is to clear off the spirits of darkness wondering on the fairway, so that his ball won't hurt one of them. Those stay besides the golf course certainly don't need an alarm clock to wake up! Then the group will tee off, most of the time before the first light breaks the sky, so much so that the club management has decided to hang a clock at the first tee box.
After this, the marshall only allows the flight to go only at the tee off time.
Have you ever wonder how is it possible you can come to the club every morning and get ready to enjoy the game? It is our Captain Gan and in his absence, the assistant Captain Alex, that does all the dirty work. In every golfing morning, one of them has to see who turn up,then prepare the flight lists and get the official t-off chits. Not forgetting the bookings and confirmations that must be done days before. Do you know how easy to organise the games for more than 20 members every morning, when you don't even know who are coming? So please extend your appreciation to the hard work and dedication of these gentlemen, who has taken all the troubles to make your golfing days possible. If you are not able to play on certain days, certainly you could give them an advance notice...Surely, you can do that, right?
To add some fun and excitement, it has been decided that a quarterly championship will be held according to the following terms and conditions:
Amendment per 31/12/2012:
HCP Review 31 Dec 2012
Basing on the scores submitted over the last 3 months, please note that I have made certain adjustment to our HCP rules, in order to cater for our different capabilities:
1. The maximum HCP for super seniors (aged +70), will be capped at 36. Furthermore, the golfers will have an option to play off WHITE tee.
2. The maximum HCP for others, will be capped at 26.
The revision of +1 will apply if Avg point is +5 and above, and to qualify for the adjustment, the player must played at least 50% of the games played by the member who has achieved the most games played in the month. eg if that person has played 12 games in the month, the HCP of player will be reviewed if he has played at least 6 games. Score cards received are proof of attendance.
Please be informed that our first tournament will start on 1st Sept for period ending Dec 31st 2012. So make sure you submit your score cards to Alex or John at the end of each game, while Lee, as the unofficial (or self-appointed?) tournament director will tabulate all the scores.
